We will be blogging LIVE!  For more information about the Hawaii Book & Music Festival, check out HBB’s official page for the HBMF: http://www.hawaiibookblog.com/hawaii-book-and-music-festival/

Most recent posts will float to the top… if you see the “Like” button and links pop up in between live blog posts, just wait a few seconds and they should disappear.  Please feel free to leave us comments, or follow us on Twitter: @HawaiiBookBlog We’ll be using the hashtag #HBMF.  We’ll be blogging probably sporadically as this is our first time and things will be hectic…but here we go!

06:37 pm

We’re home.  We’re tired.  We’re dirty.

I took a million photos, yet after looking at them it feels like I should’ve taken ten times more.

Live Blog…not so much a success.  🙂  I think we’ll do without the netbook and maybe some other things, as it kept half of us from being mobile today.  Misty diligently stationed herself at the Author’s Pavilion the entire day with ALL of our stuff while I spent a lot of time wandering for photo ops.  I look forward to her Author Pavilion account.  I’ll do the best I can at everything else, though I really only got to sit down for a little bit.  Look for it sometime later.  If it’s not today, it’s because we’re taking a vacation from the blog!  😉

Mahalo, and if we didn’t see you today, we hope to see you tomorrow at the Hawaii Book & Music Festival!

04:53 pm

Okay, this live blog is a little too hard for me to keep up.  We’ll recap the festival day one later, so for now I’m going to close this up.

We’re finishing up at the Author’s Pavilion with Alexei Melnick and a lot of interesting discussion.  If you didn’t come today, definitely stop by tomorrow!  Mahalo.

01:35 pm

We’re currently listening to Bamboo Ridge #98 reading at the Author’s Pavilion.  Just had a blue Slush Puppie and it’s fantastic…it’s totally worth the price.  Only problem is I got the most intense brain and body freeze since I’ve been running around in the sun all day!

You might catch me walking around taking photos in my rastafied Shaka For Books t-shirt!  Say ‘hi’ and I’ll give you a free HBB bookmark!  It’s glossy!

It was great seeing Ann Inoshita and Lisa Linn Kanae at the Bamboo Ridge Press tent.  They’re so awesome, I recommend visiting them.  They have buck-a-back issues at the front and Word Bag Poetry as well.  Good stuff.

Earlier I saw Philip Roberts at the Bess Press tent.  He’s the author of Waikiki Tiki and he told me he’s working on a sequel to the book, so that’s definitely worth checking out.  Carol and Tiff (sitting down on the side) are great people, too, go check ’em out when you have time.

Anyway, you might see me in the auditorium at 2pm for Roseanne, for some photo ops.  Maybe I’ll see you there!

11:51 am

Misty said the Darien Gee talk at the Author’s Pavilion was excellent.  If you didn’t come to it, you missed out!  Darien will be at the Barnes & Noble Tent from 12pm on, so see her there.

Next up at the Author’s Pavilion is Kiana Davenport, author of many classic Hawaii books.  Come check it out and say ‘hi’!  We’re handing out free, glossy HBB bookmarks to anyone who wants one (and even people who don’t!)

10:56 am

Hawaii Book Blog is setting up camp at the Author’s Pavilion.  We’ll be wearing our Hawaii Book Blog “Shaka for Books” T-shirts, so we’ll be easy to spot.  Say ‘hi’ to us and we’ll give you one of our snazzy new bookmarks!

Next up is Darien Gee aka Mia King at the Author’s Pavilion at 11am.  Should be a great session!
